New Year, New you?

So it’s that time of year, when everybody wants to clear their heads, start a fresh and everyone is asking what is your New Years resolution?

Most people might say “a new me” and go on a diet, but that inevitably goes out the window by 5th Jan with big bang and possibly a takeaway!

So, what could you do to give yourself a new boost that will last the whole year? You could decide to take on the minimalist lifestyle that is so on trend at them moment. On the surface this seems like it’s about deciding that materialist possessions aren’t what make people truly happy and in turn they can actually make life more complicated and drag you down. Looking through the things you own and asking: do you need them? and do they really make a meaningful contribution to your happiness? If the answer is yes, then great, keep them. If the answer is no, then dispose of them, or better still take them to the charity shop.

But truly the concept goes deeper than that, it’s about life choices and eliminating unnecessary burdens from our lives. Ultimately why do things you don’t have to, if they make you stressed or unhappy? Why go to that dull party, you know you won’t enjoy, is it simply because you feel obliged to out of social convention?

Once you prioritise what makes you happy, you just might ask yourself – why oh why force yourself to do your own businesses books when it will drive you to madness and you’re not sure if you’re doing it right anyway. My answer is don’t, let me do it for you and relieve the burden.

So this New Year, if you want to get a new you – contact Hitchin Bookkeeper and free up your time to do the things you actually enjoy doing in 2017!
